The Future of LightLink: First Community Update
From "abstracting everything" to integrating LayerZero on Testnet and announcing the automotive platform for Lamborghini, along with community programs and our DAO - LightLink's future is here. Discover more in our first community update.
Web3 is ever-evolving, and speed is key to capturing market share.
Since our TGE in April, we've been hustling globally with minimal sleep, ensuring we stay ahead.
These are the fruits of our labor: a strategic focus on "abstracting everything," BD progress, plans for a DAO, and community programs. We cover all these in our first-ever community update below.
From Gasless Transactions to Full Blockchain Abstraction
Since 2017, our partner company, Pellar Technology, has developed over 50 blockchain projects for major enterprises across the APAC region.
The demand from these enterprise clients inspired the dawning of LightLink. We enable them to migrate millions of their Web2 users to Web3 by focusing on a predictable, fixed-fee gas subsidy model.
Our ecosystem projects have adopted our gas abstraction technology positively, and it remains a cornerstone of LightLink's offerings. However, more is needed to transition Web2 users to Web3.
The future of LightLink involves abstracting not just gas but everything in between. It involves removing away all the complexities of taking an application on-chain so more enterprise customers can utilize the technology.
Chain Abstraction
Earlier this year, we launched Bolt, our gasless NFT minting plugin. Users of Grapes, TallyUP!, and other ecosystem projects have experienced the power of Bolt, minting over 13M NFTs without unpredictable gas fees.
We've listened to our ecosystem's demands for more chain abstraction features. We are in the final stages of refining our Bolt roadmap, detailing how Bolt will evolve to support all projects built on LightLink and further simplify blockchain complexities.
Bolt is fast becoming the chain abstraction layer toolset. It's expected to bring more enterprises and dApps to LightLink, growing both our community and on-chain metrics.
Account Abstraction
We're addressing another crypto pain point for millions of our enterprise partners: private keys. By removing complex seed phrases required for wallet backup and retrieval, we aim to boost the adoption of crypto assets.
Our R&D on ZK technology should eliminate the need for private keys, making us the first to implement this advancement on EVM-based blockchains.
Other Tech Advancements
When it comes to our underlying technology, our focus hasn't changed - we're building towards decentralization, improved security, stability, and scalability:
- We launched our new native bridge on Testnet, allowing permissionless deposits, withdrawals, and native cross-chain messaging.
- These new L2 transactions can be triggered directly on L1, paving the way for censorship resistance and protecting against sequencer failure. This is a crucial component of any rollup and a requirement for L2BEAT listing.
- dApps can communicate between L1 and L2 using this native rollup system, opening the door for cross-chain DAOs and more.
As a result, if the LightLink network ever experiences downtime, all users on-chain retain complete control over and access to their assets, ensuring that your transactions and holdings remain secure and accessible at all times
BD Progress: Bringing Conglomerates Into Web3 Globally
We have focused on enterprises from the beginning. Forming partnerships with these players takes time and involves many considerations, resources, and approval layers.
Web2 Focus
Here is a sneak peek at a few directions we’ve been exploring:
- Our lead investor, T&B Media Global, a leading entertainment technology and media company in APAC, is driving the $300 million Translucia project, which is being built on LightLink. While Translucia develops, we're enabling other blockchain uses with T&B Media Global, like introducing gamification capabilities to new movies, where moviegoers can participate in mini-games via QR codes on LINE and earn rewards.
- Working on developing strategic alliances with a major conglomerate to enhance blockchain capabilities in an emerging economy. Our CEO has personally dedicated several months to this effort.
- Finally, last week we announced our collaboration with Gravitaslabs, Animoca Brands, Motorverse, Rarible, and other companies involved with the automotive platform for Lamborghini. More details will be released in the upcoming months.
Web3 Activations
Beyond Web2, we're collaborating with one of our strategic partners, Animoca Brands, to introduce gasless and full abstraction capabilities to their portfolio companies, including multiple GameFi projects.
One of the partnerships we're about to announce is a flagship gaming ecosystem within Animoca Brands' world. With millions of gamers and many more titles to come, they are all expected to use LightLink for its achievement/gamification system.
In recent months, we've also announced dozens of Web3 companies joining our ecosystem, including ApeBond, deBridge, Element, IceCreamSwap, and others.
We're proud of our achievement of becoming one of Celestia's top two users. LightLink has uploaded 10 GB of data on its Mainnet, occupying 25% of the network's capacity. Thanks to Celestia, we're cutting down on storage costs and boosting security as we progress toward 10,000 TPS.
LightLink has now integrated with LayerZero on Testnet. This enables connectivity between LightLink and 80+ other testnets. Developers on LightLink can now test the creation of omnichain applications, including omnichain fungible tokens (OFTs) and omnichain non-fungible tokens (ONFTs). In a multi-chain world, it’s very important that LightLink is able to connect to other networks and this is now made possible on Testnet by LayerZero.
With hundreds of companies in our pipeline, we plan to announce more web3 activations during the upcoming TOKEN2049 in Singapore.
DAO to Govern Buybacks and Other Decisions
The LightLink DAO is a key component of our future vision, enabling our token holders to shape the ecosystem.
LL holders will manage our treasury and have the power to vote on implementing a burn mechanism, token buybacks, and other strategies, such as:
- Burning Enterprise Mode fees collected in LL to create deflationary economic benefits.
- Redirecting fees collected in stablecoins like USDT towards further $LL token acquisitions.
- Managing the allocation and distribution of staking rewards.
- Proposing and voting on protocol upgrades.
Implementing the LightLink DAO represents our commitment to decentralization and community governance, ensuring that decision-making power stays within our community.
Programs for LL Holders and Active Community Members: 15% of CS on LightLink is Locked!
We've launched several community programs to reward LightLink’s token holders and active users:
- Proof of HODL: Users stake their LL tokens in different pools, each with a period and APY. In addition, all participants earn points which can be exchanged for node NFTs, allowing them to become validators on the network. So far, 4.65M tokens have been staked by 255 participants. This corresponds to around 15% of the circulating supply on the LightLink network (not counting Ethereum).
- Proof of Liquidity: This program extends beyond staking. Users who provide liquidity in DeFi protocols on LightLink earn points based on the amount and duration of their contributions. Similar to Proof of HODL, these points can be exchanged for node NFTs, enabling users to become validators on the network. So far, 1,715 participants have locked in $750,000.
- Aetherian Program: We reward active community members for liaising with the community, creating memes, attending events, and participating in other activities. Over 500 users have participated in the program, with dozens active daily and helping us onboard new community members. We’ve issued over 60,000 LL in the first three weeks of the program's existence and will continue supporting this initiative.
- Node NFTs: Users will obtain node NFTs by redeeming points from the Proof of HODL and Proof of Liquidity programs. This allows them to become validators and secure the network in exchange for staking rewards. Currently, redeeming node NFTs with points from staking and providing liquidity is the only method to become a network validator.
- TIA and PYTH stakers: Another option to get node NFTs is by staking TIA and PYTH tokens. You'll have the opportunity to combine your points from staking with those from Proof of HODL and Proof of Liquidity, maximizing your chances of getting more nodes.
Our community is at the heart of everything we do. Our strategy aims to incentivize active community members and our long-term backers, giving back to them for their ongoing support.
Wen Marketing
You all are asking about marketing, and that's a fair question. Our growth objective over the next six months is clear: increase awareness of LightLink while strengthening our network and ecosystem.
This dual focus will enhance our token utility and usage while boosting liquidity. Our focus extends well beyond the short term - we're laying the financial and product foundations for sustained, long-term growth.
Around the time of our TGE, we onboarded and activated 150+ KOLs, who alone brought in 33.5M in reach and over 6M earned impressions across X, YouTube, and other social media platforms. Additionally, we worked with dozens of other channels, such as on-chain targeting, paid ads, media, and other publishers, bringing in millions more in reach. This effort helped bootstrap initial awareness about LightLink.
Moving forward, we're carefully structuring larger and ongoing marketing campaigns centered around our shift towards full abstraction and the activation of our enterprise partnerships.
We dig deep into our marketing budget only when we feel the news we have to share has the potential to spread far and be widely noticed, if not go viral. This is our strategic decision, which aligns with our long-term roadmap focus and devotion to our community.
Our Community Airdrop Phase 3 will fully support our strategic focus on "abstracting everything" and partnership activations, further boosting LightLink's awareness and allowing all users to experience full blockchain abstraction.
